4 time champion Cameron Beller has opened the 2022 season with a storming win and 2 second places, in the 3 race weekend, during Round 1, of the 2022 Porsche 944 Australian championship season, held at Sandown Raceway in Melbourne.
Beller saw off 2021 champion Jamie Westaway in Race 1 after earlier taking pole in qualifying, clocking the 3.1 km circuit in a time of 1.25.7 - less than a second off his own all time lap record.
A ‘never say die dog fight’ ensured for both races 2 and 3 on Sunday with Westaway narrowly claiming victory by half a second in both races.
Beller now sits a mere 4 points off Westaway in the championship standings.
Round 2 of the series kicks off at Winton in northern Victoria on 26 March 2022.
